On April 16, 2019, the International mine produced the largest gem-quality diamond in recent years, weighing 118.91 carats.
«This crystal is unique in that, despite inclusions in the center, the diamond has a large area of clear zone - this is what makes it gem-quality...» - explained Evgeny Agureev, member of the Management Board, Director of the United Selling Organization of ALROSA.
The diamond was extracted with the help of an X-ray fluorescent separator manufactured by Bourevestnik IC LS-20-05-2N, designed for enrichment of initial diamond-bearing ore of -50 +10 mm in size with a throughput of 60 to 100 tons per hour with a recovery rate of at least 98%.
