Supply of X-ray fluorescence analyzer ARF-7
In summer 2018, «Bourevestnik», JSC delivered and commissioned the «Specialized wave dispersion analyzer ARF-7» at Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NGMK, Navoi, Republic of Uzbekistan). NGMK is a diversified mining and processing enterprise and is in the top ten of the world's leading companies in gold and uranium production. The structure of NGMK includes five major mining and metallurgical enterprises, as well as the Navoi Machine-Building Plant Production Association and the Zarafshan Construction Department.
The ARF-7 X-ray fluorescence analyzer supplied to Navoi MMC is used for solving problems of quantitative elemental analysis of mined gold-bearing and uranium ores. The main task is to determine the content of uranium, thorium, yttrium, arsenic and strontium. These chemical elements are determined without preliminary sample preparation starting from 4, 9, 30, 870 and 3 g/t respectively.
Specialized wave dispersive X-ray fluorescence analyzer, built on a high-resolution X-ray fluorescence Koshua scheme with a resolution of 40 eV, is designed for high-precision quantitative determination of U, Th, Mo, Au, W, Tl, As, Pb, as well as other elements in ores, rocks and in the development of anthropogenic deposits. In Research Institute of VIMS for ARF series devices the method of uranium determination in the concentration range 0.0001 - 10% based on the method of standard-background is developed and certified. The intensity of incoherently scattered radiation of X-ray tube with molybdenum anode is used as background.
This technique establishes the error characteristics for uranium determination in the concentration range from 0.0001% and above. Similar results can be obtained for thorium.
Previously, the previous generation of ARF-6 analyzers, developed in the 1970s, were successfully used at NGMK. The ARF-7, which was delivered to replace it, due to the application of modern technologies and automation, simplified and increased the rapidity of analysis, as well as expanded the range of quantitative elemental analysis tasks to be solved by the NGMK laboratory. Thus, to uranium and strontium previously determined, ARF-7 allowed to add quantitative determination of thorium, arsenic and yttrium. All measurements are performed in automatic mode.
